The weekend may have passed, but the memories of Sunday brunching on Nick Anderer's menu at Maialino at the Gramercy Park Hotel linger on.
We've been long time fans of the Gramercy Park Hotel, firstly, cause it's the chicest location within walking distance of our apartment, and secondly cause we've spent a good amount of our midnight hours celebrity watching and downing manhattans at Rose Bar. Saynt and I hit up the hotel to try a little taste of Maialino, a Roman-style trattoria that's been on my must try list since hearing about their ricotta pancakes. In the hallways of the hotel, photos of celebs and familiars, I had to pose with the fames.
The pancakes were accompanied with market fruits and fresh ricotta. Crispy and flavorful, these were some of the best pancakes I've ever had in NYC, which is saying alot, considering I'm a bit of a brunch aficionado, and find myself each weekend at any place with more that three stars in New York mag.
My next trip will definitely have to be for Maialino's Sunday Night Pasta Tasting ($55), which gets you plates of kale & escarole pesto spaghetti, autumn squash & brown butter tortelli, and raviolo al uovo, which is made with ricotta & egg yolk. Salivating just thinking about the menu...
