Short shapes range from sweet and girly to edgy and spunky. This season we’re seeing both soft feminine shapes and cool, punk inspired looks like the ones shown here. A short textured top paired with long, unstructured sides and back exudes androgynous rocker cool. The cut works on all hair types and textures and it can be yours in a few simple steps. –– Laura Martin
Step 1: Ask your stylist for square layers with unfinished edges. The flatness of the internal shape will allow the cut to hug the head. Bangs, sides, and and nape can be customized for your individual preference. The looks pictured above represent a variety possible detailing options.
Step 2: At home, apply a nickel of hair creme, roots to ends. Finger dry, tousling and twisting to reveal natural texture.
Step 3: Finish with a dime of texture paste. Emulsify the product in your hands and scrunch into strands.
