Retro-Glam: Era-Inspired HairStyling Made Fast & Fab

A style made famous by the film stars of the forties, glamorous, neck-grazing curls and a deep, stylistic side-part is as sexy and as sophisticated as it ever was. But in our time-short lives, few enjoy the circumstances that offers the freedom to spend night and day setting hair on rollers, which is the traditional way to make this romantic and alluring shape. Nowadays, though, instead of having to roller-set hair over several hours, or even overnight, you can use hot-tools to create this look as quick as a flash. Learn how in the style notes…

Step 1: On clean, wet hair, apply set and style spray and protective thickening lotion liberally throughout strands, blow-drying in hands, tossing hair around to encourage volume and texture.

Step 2: Once dry, mist again with protective thickening lotion and use a 1 to 2 inch curling iron or wand, curl whole head of hair. After making each curl, use a pin-curl clip to pin in place. Once all curls are pinned, mist with holding spray.

Step 3: Switch your blowdryer to cool and apply cool air to curls until they have cooled completely.

Step 4: Unclip curls. Using outside arch of eyebrow as the guide, make a deep side-part. Now simply brush out curls, blending them together to create the vintage, forties-inspired shape you want.

Step 5: Mist primp over finished style for extra support and shine.
