Newness for Spring: Perfectly Imperfect Chignon

There is no denying it, lived-in hair is sexy. Blending the softness and the romanticism of loose, flowing tresses with the hard edge of the I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-don’t-give-a-damn attitude, it’s got the je ne sais quoi. To replicate a style that embodies this spirit, take note of the Michael Kors spring 2014 collection, noted for the carefree and disheveled hair. The messy chignon styles took perfectly imperfect to new levels effortlessness. Great for brunches, strolls in the park, and evening cocktails. Step 1: Apply styling whip to damp hair. Blowdry loose and rough, using fingers to create movement and texture.

Step 2: Once hair is dry, spray in refinish dry shampoo to create a gritty, undone texture.

Step 3: Tease the crown gently and coil hair into a loose chignon in the back, securing with bobby pins as you twist. For the runway look, make sure to leave out plenty of face-framing bits and pieces, like the image collage above.

Step 4: Finish with holding spray to prevent frizz and keep your hair shining and shimmering throughout the day.
