Ad Appropriation or Stealing?

When Tom Ford released the ad campaign for his mens' fragrance some were shocked, others who know him-not so much. The ad, as seen below, was shot by Terry Richardson and shows a model naked from the waist down with a perfume bottle hiding her privates. When I first saw the ad I wondered to myself 'How did he come up with that idea?!' Well I found the answer! This morning I was going through some of Guy Bourdin's photos and couldn't help but notice this one that looked curiously similar to the Tom Ford ads. Now most would call this stealing, but because ads are considered a form of art we call it appropriation. Oh Tom, thanks for getting rid of the bush in your ad! Totally different!
